About LSRC

Lakeside Swim & Racquet Club:  The Early Years

In 1956, Lakeside Recreation Association was formed by a group of visionaries in the community who recognized the value of having a safe and wholesome place for families and children to gather and enjoy the summer months.  The founding Board of Directors acquired eight acres of land, which is nestled in a beautiful, tree-lined setting with Rocky Branch Creek running through the property.  Ever since, we have been one of "the best kept secrets in Lakeside."

In the summer of 1957, the original pool was opened with over 100 Charter members.  Since then, tennis courts and an additional competitive pool were added.  In 1972, the name of the association was changed to Lakeside Swim and Racquet Club, which better reflected both the swim and tennis aspects of the Club.

Many children in the greater Richmond area have grown up wiling away their summers swimming and playing tennis at Lakeside.  We are pleased that so many of those children have returned as adult members to raise their own children and grandchildren at this family oriented facility.  We applaud our founding families for their vision and determination and thank the many volunteers over the years who have kept the vision alive and successfully guided us through changing times, natural disasters, and financial challenges.  For over fifty years, our success continues to be in the hands and hearts of our members whose willingness to give freely of their time and talents ensure the future of Lakeside Swim & Racquet Club.

Rules of the Club

LSRC has established Facility Rules to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for members and their guests.  These rules are guidelines that are subject to change without notice.

While all rules are to be adhered to, violation of certain rules will warrant immediate suspension from the facility and the case will be presented to the Board of Directors for final recommendation.  Repeat offenses of facility rules, such as, but not limited to, horseplay, profanity, or being disrespectful to those listed in Rule #1 can result in the member and/or guest being asked to leave the premises.  Continued violations will be brought to the attention of the Management Committee for review and corrective action.  For your convenience, the Facility Rules are provided here and are also available from the Forms and Documents page   LSRC Facility Rules

Club's Smoking Policy

No smoking allowed on the poolside of the creek.

The smoking policy changed beginning with the 2022 season.  Smoking is allowed only in the designated areas outside of pool perimeter and on the parking lot side of the creek. LSRC asks that you use this area for your smoking needs.  Smokers should be courteous by not smoking near sidewalk entrances where patrons are heading to the facility's gate entrance.  This smoking policy is a pool rule and will be strictly enforced by pool management. Members and guests who do not comply may be asked to leave the facility.

Guests and Guest Passes

A great benefit to members is the ability to bring guests to the Club, and LSRC welcomes members' guests to the facility.  The member, as the sponsoring host, must be present at the Club when the guest visits.

Guest fees this year did not increase, and they are:

  • $7 per person, single pass
  • set of 10 passes is $50 (a savings of $20 over single rates)
Also:  any member that donates 8 hours of volunteer time in April or May to assist with preparing the facility for the new season's opening earns one free set of 10 guest passes.

The Club rents the picnic pavilion and the snack bar canopy for blocks of time for members to hold small groups or parties. For members who attend these events, admission to the Club is free.  For non-members, a guest pass with fee is required. For the member who wishes to hold the party, there are savings available to reduce the event or party costs through purchase of the set of guest passes, which will reduce the unit guest pass cost from $7 to $5 per guest.  If your party or event has 10 or more guests, the guest fee is $5 per person.
