Swim Team Needs Assistant Coach – 2012

Work with Head Coach to conduct a swim program to teach correct stroke techniques and prepare swimmers for competitive swim meets.

Must be 18 or over with competitive swimming and/or Water Safety Instructor background; High School Diploma; Some college preferred; previous coaching experience preferred. Current certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid or comparable is required. Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or comparable is required. Knowledge of Competitive Swim Programs and the JRAC league is preferred. Must exhibit leadership skills, team-building skills, and have an enthusiastic personality. Effective communication with all age groups and the ability to enforce pool regulations in a firm manner while maintaining control over practice is required.

It’s that time again! Thank you to everyone who has supported our Spirit Nights at McDonald’s on Staples Mill Road. We’ve made about $150 so far and appreciate all that you and McDonald’s have done for the swim team. Please join us this month on Wednesday, July 13 from 5-8pm. We are hoping to raise $100 this week. Come out and support our swim team!

Purpose

American Red Cross GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow is a program for youth that provides a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguarding courses.

Prerequisites

* Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the front or side.

* Tread water for 1 minute using arms and legs.

* Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater.

4th of July 2011!

Hi everyone,

Attached is the flyer with all the information for the annual 4th of July celebration. We’ll have food, games for the kids, a 50/50 raffle, and a Silent Auction to benefit the swim team.

Since we usually have a BIG demand for chairs on the 4th, and even though we’ve gotten 30 new chairs, we would encourage those who can to bring their own chair. In fact, bringing our own chairs on the 4th of July is something of a tradition for many of us.

Hope to see you there. Remember to purchase your meal ticket in advance so we can plan to have enough food on hand.

July Board Meeting Rescheduled

LSRC members received the following email:

This notice is being sent as a courtesy to the members of Lakeside Swim and Racquet Club. Due to a scheduling conflict at the church, the regular July meeting of the LSRC Board of Directors has been rescheduled.

The meeting was originally scheduled, per the bylaws, on the second Thursday in July, the 14th. The church needed to hold another event at that time, so our meeting space will not be available. Therefore, the July meeting has been rescheduled to the FIRST Thursday, July 7. It will still be held at Lakeside Baptist Church and will begin at 7:00pm. All members of LSRC are welcome to attend any meeting of the LSRC Board of Directors.

Welcome to another season of LSRC Hurricanes Summer Swim Meets. We appreciate the time and effort you put in to ensure that your children have a fun and successful experience.

Swim meets require a lot of generous individuals who volunteer to help. JRAC provides mandatory annual and semi annual training clinics to ensure that all of these wonderful people are up to date on current rules and procedures.
