Kelsey Hilton, Head Coach – 2012
I am a student at the University of Mary Washington studying for degrees in English and Elementary Education. I began swimming for the Lakeside Hurricanes when I was five years old. When I was eight I began swimming year round for Shady Grove YMCA. I competed for both teams until I turned eighteen. As a Lakeside Hurricane I was awarded the Robbie Ashworth and the JRAC Michael J. Stott Scholarship.
I began working at Shady Grove YMCA when I was fourteen teaching swim lessons and assisting the swim coaches with their duties. When I was sixteen I was hired as the Lakeside mite coach and held that job until I graduated at age eighteen. For the next two years, I was with Rockville Center in the GRAL league serving as their assistant coach. This is my third year as Lakeside’s head coach. I’m excited for another great season with the Hurricanes!

Emily Gay, Mites Coach – 2012
I am currently a student at Henrico High School in the International Baccalaureate Programme. I began swimming competitively when I was four years old on the Dolphin Club Swim Team at the JCC, and have loved it since. When I was seven I swam my first winter season at BETTA swim team which is currently Quest. That summer, I began swimming for Lakeside and continued swimming for Dolphin Club. I swam year around at Dolphin Club from 2004 until 2007 when I moved to Burkwood Aquatic Club (BAC). I am currently in the elite group at BAC, Senior Training, which I have been in since September.
This is my second year as Mite Coach at Lakeside, and I have volunteered as a swim instructor before, two summers at the JCC (ages 2-5) and for three years at BAC (ages 4-8). I enjoy working with kids; watching them develop as swimmers and seeing friendships emerge. I am excited for my tenth season as a Hurricane, I am sure it will be an excellent one!
